Lagarde Opens Conference on the Euro in Dublin
A two-day conference to reflect on twenty years of the euro has kicked off in Dublin. ‘The Euro at 20‘ is a joint conference, organised by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the IMF Economic Review, with the managing director of the IMF, Christine Lagarde, addressing the conference with the opening remarks.
Since its launch in January 1999, the euro project has received both praise and criticism. As the currency is about to turn twenty, the conference’s purpose is to take stock of its performance. As well as Ms Lagarde, there will be a range of other speakers over the two days, covering topics from monetary policy to regulation to labour markets.
